Los Angeles court jury found Michael Jackson doctor guilty

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) — A Los Angeles Superior Court jury on Monday found pop superstar Michael Jackson’s personal physician Conrad Murray guilty in the singer’s Propofol-induced death, while the trial wrapped up on Monday afternoon.

Murray, who was little bit shocked by the decision, was handcuffed after the verdict was read and was immediately remanded to custody in county jail.

Murray has been ordered jailed without bail pending his sentencing on Nov. 29. Continue Reading

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) — After a lengthy round of closing arguments delivered Thursday by both sides over the involuntary manslaughter trial against Michael Jackon’s personal physician, the fate of the cardiologist now rests in the hands of the panelists.

Deputy District Attorney David Walgren and defense attorney Edward Chernoff traded jabs during the day’s court proceedings at the Los Angeles Superior Court, with Walgren accusing the pop star’s doctor Conrad Murray of performing an “obscene experiment” on Jackson for treating his insomnia with powerful anesthetic Propofol. Lindsay Lohan ordered to be sent to jail for 30 days

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) — Troubled U.S. actress Lindsay Lohan, who has admitted to having violated her probation in grand theft and drunk-driving cases by failing to show up for court- ordered community-service appointments and therapy sessions, was ordered by a Los Angeles judge to spend 30 days in jail on Wednesday.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner, at a Wednesday hearing to determine if Lohan has violated her probation terms, found the actress liable for the violation, and gave her two choices — spend 300 days in jail, or do community service at the morgue and therapy sessions and spend 30 days in jail. Wikileaks founder Assange loses extradition appeal

LONDON, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) — Wikileaks founder Julian Assange lost his bid to block extradition to Sweden over alleged sex crimes, London’s High Court ruled on Wednesday.

The judges at the High Court in London said that the ruling in favor of an extradition must be upheld.

The 40-year-old Australian computer scientist was accused of rape and sex offenses against two Swedish women in Stockholm last August. Continue Reading

Michael Jackson doctor Conrad Murray refuses to testify in own defense

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) — Michael Jackson’s personal doctor Conrad Murray, who is charged with involuntary manslaughter for the pop star’s 2009 death, refused to testify in his own defense Tuesday.

The 58-year-old cardiologist told Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael E. Pastor his decision not to testify and resign his fate to a jury instead. Edward Chernoff, the defense attorney, also told the judge that they had discussed the matter many times before. Continue Reading

Mother of Hillary Clinton dies at 92

WASHINGTON, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) — Dorothy Howell Rodham, mother of U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, passed away due to illness on Tuesday at age 92, her family said.

Hillary Clinton cancelled a planned trip to London and Istanbul in order to be at her mother’s side at a Washington hospital. Brazil’s ex-president Lula starts chemotherapy

RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) — Former Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva arrived at a hospital in Sao Paulo Monday morning for his first chemotherapy session to treat his laryngeal cancer.

Michael Jackson likely caused his own death: expert witness
